Have you ever herd a song on the radio or somewhere that you really liked but didn’t know who sung it? The melody and some select words (usually the chorus) sticks in your mind until it drives you to the point of insanity. Then the search of who the artist is or even the title begins. You find yourself mumbling some of the words or the tune to your friends in hopes that they’ve possibly herd it. It was this dilemma which led me to the answer to all my mumbled unknown songs.

Leos lyrics.com is a lyrics database in which a search engine assists in finding the artist or song title you want to know. And what’s even better is you can actually type in a few of the lyrics you remember or the phrase and quickly results come up, showing the artist name and song that best match your search. Clicking on the title of the song then results in the songs lyrics to be displayed. Some of the conventions being that it shows the artist and album which the song is on, as well as other songs and albums of the featured artist displayed on the right of the screen. Looking further down you will see you can email the lyrics to a friend or even voice your opinion on the song or artist or read others comments.
The entire homepage is gray with select red and blue highlights to divide the links. The red showing the different features you can select that guide you to a specific search, for example if you want to do a full text search or submit your own lyrics are just a few of the sites features. And the blue text commanding your sight to the top 10 songs and submitters, as well as alphabetically categorizing artist, song name and album to help narrow your search. The focal point of the site would have to be the black and white photo of a guitar being played followed by the two white toolbars to where you put your desired search.
Clearly the Genre of this site would be entertainment with the main emphasis on music.
Before the development of the powerful search engines, finding the lyrics to your favorite songs would consist of listening to the song until you remembered it, or buying the tape or CD hoping the lyrics were inside. As far as finding the artist or title to that mysterious song would have again consisted of asking friends or calling the radio station to find out(which some people still do.) This form of web-based writing has made it much easier to access not only the artist but all the work done by the artist with just the click of a mouse or text even communicating with others with the same interests or comments as you.
Ever since finding this site (which by the way was found through a yahoo search) I am completely hooked on it, I use it at least two or more times a week, due to its satisfactory results. But not to say that it doesn’t have it’s problems, like any other big search engine (yahoo, google) the outcome is not always pleasing, but more often than not its right on target if you don’t believe me click here and find out for yourself.

It’s so funny that you picked Lyrics.com because, it was one of my choices. I constantly find myself listening to a song on the radio or a friends MP3 player and ask myself as a listen, “ WHAT DID THEY JUST SAY?” So as you stated, Lyrics.com is a great site to find out. Its nice because I can find just about any artist, and its super, simple to use. I also liked the fact that you made it clear that you didn’t have to be under some type of record label to post lyrics on the site. It’s one of those hidden, little, perks, that the site has to offer that not many people know about. Overall, I would say that you did well describing the site.

I am so glad you wrote about this site, because this is a problem I have frequently, and my only solution has been to just listen to the radio as much as I can until I hear it again, and pray that the DJ announces who the artist was. As you can guess, this method worked very rarely. Music is such a powerful force anymore, its hard to find someone who doesn’t appreciate at least one genre of music. Basing a website off of this affinity of music will guarantee multiple visitors as it is something that continues to change.

I have tried other lyrics websites but haven't really been pleased with the results. I'm excited to find a new site to try out. I can usually memorize the song, but sometimes the words just aren't clear enough. I really though that your introduction lead into the piece nicely and it grabbed my attention. Maybe that's because I love music so much, but being objective it was still good. Your descriptions of the site's conventions were very clear as well. The only thing I would change would be some more topic sentences, but that's about it. Thanks for doing this site.

I defiantly know the feeling you’re talking about. The worst is when you can’t even remember the words or the exact melody but still want to know that song your thinking of. That’s always a treat to explain to a friend, “you know, that one song, with the….. you know…..”. I think I will be using this site from time to time now. Thanks for the information. I thought your blog was well written and explained the context of the site well. I have used a few different lyrics sites before and this one seemed to work better than the others.
